DTV travels to the Western Cape to meet DeafSA Provincial Director, Jabaar Mohamed. Candice discusses what his position at DeafSA involves, and also his role as coordinator and monitor for the Kha Ri Gude literacy campaign, a project he became involved with before joining DeafSA.

Candice then joins Jabaar and his family for Sunday lunch, which is a big family affair, involving siblings, spouses, nieces, and nephews.

DTV visited the South African offices of Gemalto, a global company specialising in digital security. The many security solutions Gemalto offer include the design and printing of bank cards, along with the printing of ID cards, travel documents, and driver’s licence cards.

Gemalto is very focused on having a workforce that represents the diversity of society, and their South African workforce includes five deaf individuals. Thabo Ntatlo meets with them, and discusses Gemalto’s diversity with the company’s HR manager, Lydia Siloka.

Marketers have done a pretty good job of convincing us that the only proper way of showing appreciation, or thanking someone, is by giving them a gift. But this isn’t true. Giving thanks, or showing appreciation, can be done through simple gestures too, even something as ordinary as a handwritten note can sometimes say more than elaborate and expensive gifts.

Wheelchair Basketball Championships

Candice Morgan attended the wheelchair basketball championships recently to learn more about the sport and how it differs from traditional basketball.
