Elize Anthony

Candice Morgan meets Elize Anthony, the owner of a guest house in Stellenbosch. Elize’s parents were farmers, but she didn’t dream of being a farmer herself. Today she is the proud owner of her own guest house, after spending years working in law firms, municipal offices, and financial institutions.

But Elize isn’t only involve in tourism, she is also a very active participant in local community initiatives. Elize sits on the board of a local women’s shelter, while also being involved in a feeding scheme for local children.

Candice Morgan visits Eagle Encounters, a rehabilitation centre for birds of prey. The handlers at Eagle Encounters take in injured birds, help them heal, and where possible, release them back into the wild.

Eagle Encounters is open to the public, and the handlers take time to share some valuable information on the different birds they handle, while also giving Candice an opportunity to see some of the birds up close. Very close.

In June 2016, DTV introduced viewers to the Venter family, blind parents to two children who are deaf. That insert focused on the difficulties the family had in communicating, along with their efforts to raise funds for Cochlear implants that would help make communication a little bit easier.

In this weeks episode Candice Morgan joins Johan, Tanya, Corban, and Samantha at the Zuid Afrikaans Hospital in Pretoria, as Corban and Samantha prepare for the Cochlear implants. Candice talks to the family, along with the surgeon, Dr Izeboud, the manager of the Foundation for Hearing Loss, Erika Basson, and Lorenzo Davids, CEO of Community Chest. They, along with Cathrine Holtzhausen, made the surgery possible.
